It is possible to obtain residence faster by becoming a Key Manager of an Austrian based company.
For this, the following requirements must be fulfilled:
The residence permit will be granted if the applicant meets all mentioned requirements and obtains a place in the yearly quota issued by the government. Austria lacks Key Managers, therefore so far it has never happened that the quota was completely full.
Once residence as a Key Manager has been granted, it has to be renewed after 18 months or the Key Manager can switch to another category of residence permit.
Residence leads here - not depending on the category - after 10 years to citizenship. This does not happen automatically, means that one has to apply for it. Basic German knowledge is required to become an Austrian citizen; an exam at the same level as for residence of private means - 300 hours, level A2 - is required as well as to pass a short exam as to Austrian constitution and history.
- sufficient income: The applicant must have an income as an especially skilled employee of an Austrian based company with a monthly income of at least EUR 2.400
- clean police record
- suitable accommodation
